    This is one tiny keyboard measuring just 6-inches by 2-1/4-inches. The feel is firmly tactile and it readily charges via an enclosed USB to Micro USB cord. This makes it perfect for travelers. In fact, this is a great tool for ‘road warriors’, or those who spend more time traveling than in an office.

    Imagine being in a hotel room that has a HDTV and you have your laptop. There’s so much you can get on your laptop to watch (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) but who wants to watch that on a small screen? Plug your laptop into the HDTV with a short HDMI cable. (Nobody rides around with a 25-foot HDMI cable when traveling). A short one will do. This mini keyboard has a USB port receiver attached that allows you to plug into your laptop for remote assistance.

    You can then type or scroll using the mini keyboard and see it on your HDTV. On your laptop, pressing the Windows button and ‘P’ will give you the choices of “Computer only”, “Duplicate”, “Extend” and Projector only’. You want ‘Duplicate or ‘Extend’. This mini keyboard makes it easy to just sit back in a chair or on a bed and watch whatever you want on TV using your laptop. It’s a bargain considering what it can do. Product supplied for review.

    My very first thought about such a small keyboard: why would I want a thumb-type keyboard when I could thumb-type on my screen? Well, folks, it’s not for that at all. I’ve discovered the reason for these types of keyboards and it’s not for touchscreens at all. No sir, this keyboard is going to replace the remote on my Western Digital Live Hub.

    All remotes need to look like this nowadays. Why they don’t is a mystery to me. If you have to hunt and peck letters with a cursor on your TV screen searches, then you need a thumb-type keyboard. My life has suddenly gotten easier. No longer do I need to scroll through the letters. Typing is so much faster.

    To be fair, the keyboard sometimes double-types my letters, but I found this to be device specific. It isn’t a problem when I use it with my netbook. Why did I use it with my netbook? To test out all the features that I can’t use with my Western Digital Live Hub, like the touchpad and the F5 key. And yes, everything works as it should. The touchpad sometimes brings up a menu box that I’d normally see when right-clicking with a mouse. This happens when I swipe too quickly on the web browser. Long touch, hold and drag don’t bring up that menu. I’m sure when my fingers learn that, it won’t be a problem.

    Just remember that this is not a Bluetooth keyboard. It uses a USB dongle receiver, which stores inside the keyboard when not in use. If your device doesn’t have a USB port, you’re out of luck. On the other hand, if your device has a USB port but not Bluetooth, the luck is on your side.

    System requirements are as follows:
    * Windows 2000
    * Windows XP
    * Windows Vista, Win CE, Win 7, Win 8
    * Linux (Debian-3.1, Rehat-9.0, Ubuntu-8.10, Fedora-7.0)
    * Macintosh MAC OS
    * Android PC OS

    My netbook has Windows 7 Starter, and I have no clue what the Western Digital Live Hub has on it, but it works.

    The keyboard requires a mini USB cord for charging (included).

    I’m very happy with this keyboard. In fact, I’m replacing the remote that came with my Western Digital Live Hub and using this keyboard exclusively. This is the remote it should have come with.

    Poor manufacturing, May 26, 2014

    Layout and aesthetics are good.
    Internal manufacturing is poor.

    Many people experience on and off (loss of signal) and charging issues after connecting it with a computer.
    This is caused by poor soldering and general quality relating to the internal battery. The soldering on the inside can come lose very easily and also the charge is unreliable due to the quality of the battery. A small percent ship with the connections already lose. Others will come lose after owning it for a bit or after a very gentle drop, even on a soft surface.
    When it works, it is quite a nice product.

    Don’t be fooled by the many brand names that this product is sold under, they all appear to have the same internals. The brands include Favi, iClever, iPazzPort, Everstar. I returned and got a normal looking PC remote on Amazon that has better reviews. It doesn’t have a full keyboard, but I’d rather have something reliable that lasts. If at some point this manufacturer upgrades the parts quality, I will certainly give this product another try.
